GLOBAL DIASPORA MISSIOLOGY CONSULTATION

To be in keeping with the global trend of movement of peoples, the “Global Diaspora Missiology Consultation” will be held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada - November 15-18, 2006..

This event is a partnership, in the study of diaspora missiology and mission strategy to reach diaspora groups, of Western Seminary (Portland, Oregon), Filipino International Network (FIN) and the Lausanne Congress for World Evangelization.

Taylor University College and Seminary (TUCS) in Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) will host this event.

This consultation is a remarkable gathering on diaspora missiology. The goal of this consultation is three-fold:

1.              To provide a consultative event in which scholars and practitioners can contribute to the growing edge of "Diaspora Missiology;"

2.              To participate in the celebration of the progress of the evangelization and church planting amongst several diaspora groups;

3.              To promote cooperation and partnership of various diaspora groups for Kingdom ministry globally beyond the consultation. Participants and presenters have been selected and invited based on their expertise and current ministry involvement with diaspora groups (please refer to the list of participants).

Text Box:  Taylor University College and Seminary to Host Global
Consultation on Diaspora Missiology

From November 16 – 18, 2006, Taylor University College and Seminary in Edmonton will host a global consultation on diaspora missiology that will bring together key leaders of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization. The consultation, sponsored by Filipino International Network, will gather strategists to discuss the impact global migrations are having on the future of mission. The convener of the event, Dr. Tetsunao Yamamori, will present a free public lecture at a chapel service on Thursday, November 16, at 9:30 AM. He will speak about “Critical Issues in Global Mission Today.”

On the same day, November 16, at noon, Taylor University College and Seminary will host a luncheon in the gymnasium. All area pastors, missionaries and Christian business people are invited. Dr. Yamamori will address the topic “Business as Mission.” Tickets for this luncheon must be reserved before November 9 by sending an email to Renetta.geisler@taylor-edu.ca The cost is $11.00 and may be paid at the door when tickets are picked up. Tetsunao “Ted” Yamamori is the International Director of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization and the President and CEO of Global Holistic Mission and Research. He is also President Emeritus of Food for the Hungry, International. He was recently appointed as senior fellow of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. He is the author of numerous books, including his most recent publication, “On Kingdom Business: Transforming Missions Through Entrepreneurial Strategies.”
