Abstract

The present article emphasizes the need to give greater theological reflection to the religious persecution of Christians.  Statistics show that since the Church’s inception nearly 70 million Christians have been killed for their faith with 65% of these martyrs dying in the 20th century alone (Barrett and Johnson 2001:  227, 229).
